With the main concept of "the source of life and the future boat", this plan echoes the theme of the Expo, "Imagine a vibrant Future Society", and shows China as a world power with a long history, splendid culture, scientific and technological progress, openness and integration, and is on the road to national renaissance.

The original idea comes from two clues: a tile of the Han and Tang palaces, floating across the sea, evolved into the "treasure ship" of Zheng He's voyages to the Western Seas; a pool of clear spring, transformed into a modern "garden" reflecting the coexistence of traditional Chinese man and nature. The two clues merge together to express the oval courtyard of gathering the water in the sky and embracing the universe; the pool symbolizes the "source of life", and the roof terraces full of rice strengthen the Chinese agriculture-oriented culture and the common concern of "food is the heaven of the people".

The whole building is abstracted into an image of a big ship heading towards the future, reflecting the Marine environment where the building is located, becoming a visual symbol understandable to everyone all over the world, and more in line with the global values of building a "community with a shared future for mankind" proposed by President Xi.
