Recently, the 2025 International Conference on Solid Waste, jointly organized by Dongguan University of Technology, Zhejiang University, and the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, and co-hosted by Dongguan University of Technology and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Ecological Environment Science Center, opened in Dongguan. Yuan Ye, Chief Architect of China Construction Design & Research Institute and Lead Chief Architect of China Construction Engineering Design Corporation, was invited to attend and deliver a speech.
The conference gathered global experts, scholars, policymakers, and industry leaders in waste management and environmental science to discuss "Waste Management, Treatment, Utilization, and Recycling for Carbon Neutrality and a Circular Economy."
Dr. Yuan Ye was invited to speak on "From Global to Local: Net-Zero Solid Waste Architectural Innovation and Practice Based on Whole Life Cycle" at the Greater Bay Area’s Green BRI Innovation Forum. He presented a lifecycle-based approach merging global architectural innovations, advocating source-designed waste reduction over traditional end-of-pipe methods. His proposed closed-loop system—integrating eco-materials, smart construction, and low-carbon operations—offers a scalable model for sustainable building. Dr. Yuan also signed an agreement to join the Eco-Environment Science Center’s Enterprise Support Network on behalf of his firm.
Held at a pivotal time for global green transition, the conference advances international collaboration in waste management. It fosters deeper integration across sectors in the Greater Bay Area to build an efficient, low-carbon circular waste system.
