The "Jiangzhuang Renovation" project won the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Architectural Design Award.

On March 1st, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Cross-Strait and HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Areaural Design Awards (CADA2024) announced theselection results and held the award ceremony at the Asia Society Hong KongCenter. The "Jiangzang Renovation - The Rebirth of an Abandoned Village onthe Banks of the Yellow River", designed by Dr. Yuan Ye, stood out and wonthe Silver.

TheCADA Design Awards aim to commend architectural works that have madeoutstanding contributions to promoting economic integration, social harmony,and cultural identity among the two sides of the Strait and the Hong Kong andMacao regions in the past decade. It has become a stage to showcase howarchitectural elites from both sides of the strait grasp the of the times andpromote the creativity of architectural design in the region on a global scale.

TheJiangzhuang Renovation project is located on the banks of the River in JiaheTownship, Taian County, Puyang City, Henan Province. It is a "Bai MeiVillage Homestay" social project supported by the China Rural DevelopmentFoundation. It was designed and built by Dr. Yuan Ye and his team from 2017 to201. The architect showed a high respect for the original structure, texture,and original landscape of the village and a unique understanding of theinheritance and innovation of local culture and sustainable development ofrural areas. The architect listened to the voice of the land with a humbleheart and let the architecture "grow" naturally from the land through"local" and "local construction". This re-established theemotional connection between people and the land and the symbiotic relationshipbetween people and nature, strengthened the cultural identity and cohesion therural community, and effectively promoted the economic and social developmentof the countryside. Ultimately, it transformed this abandoned village on thebanks of the Yellow River into a work long-term spatial value and profoundsocial influence.

Thiswork has won the first prize of the RTF International Architectural DesignAwards in 2020 and the Asian Architects Association Award Honor Mention Awardin 2021, and represented the China Construction Design Research Institute toparticipate in the 2023 UIA Architects Congress (Copenhagen) China Pavilionexhibition.
